The sonic washing ball turns the washing machine into a sustainable solution

Sustainability has become a mainstream concern in society and consumers are keen to be green. Philips asked, if there is a more sustainable way carrying garment and enable consumers to feel that they have made a positive difference?

The design proposal adds a new cleaning technology to the common washing machine. When integrating ultrasonic cleaning into a washing ball, the current washing machine turns into a sustainable solution. More functionality could be found at the docking station, which offers feedback of the sustainable added value of the washing ball.

The project was carried out for Philips at Delft University of Technology.
